Richard ‘Leon’ Perry, 68

Richard “Leon” Perry, 68, Madison, Indiana died at 1:50 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2012 at University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.

Born October 12, 1943 in Trimble County, Kentucky, he was the son of Leslie Leroy & Anna Rose Pyles Perry,

Leon entered this life on October 12, 1943 in at the family home in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late, Leslie Leroy & Anna Rose Pyles Perry. He was raised in Trimble County and attended school here. He was inducted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Leon was united in marriage in 1968 to Linda Ruth Cutshaw Kilgore. This union was blessed with a daughter, Jyll and a son, Jason.

Leon was a private, self-employed carpet installer for many years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church in Hanover, Indiana and was raised in the Corn Creek Baptist Church in Trimble County, Kentucky. Leon was united in marriage on June 28, 1997 at the Hanover Baptist Church to Thelma Jo Jones. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, muscle cars, especially his GTO, tools, the Ohio River, auctions, motorcycles, nature and his animals.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jo Jones Perry, Madison, Indiana; his daughter, Jyll (Brendan) O’Shea, Louisville, Kentucky; his son, Jason (Kendra) Perry. Hanover, Indiana; his step son, Gregory Shawn (Connie) Jones, Scottsburg, Indiana; his step daughter, Lori Fields, Hanover, Indiana; his grandchildren, Clare Madailein O’Shea, Grace Eimile O’Shea, and Michael Cody Perry; his step grandchildren, Bradley and Brittany Hensley; Corey Williams and Hunter Fields; his brothers, David (Virgie) Perry, Hanover, Indiana, Glenn (Brenda) Perry, Madison, Indiana; his sisters, Carolyn (David) Stevens, Milton, Kentucky, Marilyn O’Day, Frankfort, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and other relatives.

His parents, Leslie Leroy & Anna Rose Pyles Perry; his brother-in-law, Louis Carroll O’Day; his nephew, Shane Taylor; his dog, Buttons preceded him in death.

Services were Friday, August 31, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana officiated by Rev. Jeanne Winter and Rev. Mike Johnson.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Kentucky.

A Final Salute was conducted on Friday at the funeral home by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion. Full military honors were conducted at the graveside by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
