The Carroll County Public Library would like to thank Ohio Valley United Charities Inc. for its continued support that allows us to have such wonderful programs.

Each year they generously provide funding that provides programs and supplies for the Summer Reading Program.  The Summer Reading Program is designed to keep children reading throughout the summer when school is not in session.  Children receive rewards for reading each week and the library fills the calendar with literacy based programming and crafts during June and July.  We recognize how generous donations are in these tough economic times, and want to express our gratitude to Ohio Valley United Charities Inc., and their donors.

At the conclusion of the Summer Reading Program, the Library provides prizes for the children and a gift bag for every child that completed reading logs. This is made possible by donations from local business.

The library would also like to thank VF Factory Outlet for donating a $50 Gift Card, General Butler State Resort Park for donating gift certificates for a free stay at the lodge and two free buffets and Walmart for donating $50 in gift cards.

The following restaurants donated food coupons for the gift bags: McDonald’s, Arby’s, Taco Bell, Hometown Pizza, Papa John’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Sonic, Waffle House and Subway.  One of the most rewarding times is watching the children look through their gift bags with all the wonderful coupons.

The library would also like to thank all of the parents and caregivers who commit to bring their children in each week and for all of the programming. This is a huge commitment throughout the summer, but is terribly rewarding.  We love to watch parents and caregivers enjoy the programming as much as their children.

If you have not taken advantage of the Summer Reading Program before, please give it a try next year.  We have a lot of fun with the kids, adults and animals that come and visit the library each summer.  You never know who you might see at the library.
