WARSAW, Ky. – Raymond “Ray” Lee Thompson, 71, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Ky.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 18, at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St., Warsaw, with the Rev. Douglas Sharon officiating. Burial was in the Warsaw Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born April 6, 1937, to the late Gilbert and Goldie Cox Thompson. He retired after working as a boilermaker for 33 years. He was also a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Carpenter Thompson of Warsaw; a son, Michael Raymond Thompson of Ghent; a stepson, Jim Gullion Jr. of Warsaw; four daughters, Verlinda (Jess) Sanford, Rebecca (Darrell) Young, Deborah Springate, Marianne (Rick) Richardson all of Lawrenceburg; a step-daughter, Pam Bailey of Guthrie, Ky.; two brothers, Wallace and Robert Thompson, both of Lawrenceburg; two sisters; Ruth Ann Bruce of Frankfort, Ky., and Mary Jo Thompson of Eatonton, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Harris, and a granddaughter, Whitney Thompson.
Pallbearers were Patrick Richardson, Matthew Richard-son, Joey Young, Ryan Springate, Jason Riddle and Carrey Johns.
