This weekend was not good if your team’s mascot was a Rebel and you took on a Raider. The Trimble County boys’ 6th grade team took on the Owen County Rebels on Saturday and the Southwestern Rebels on Sunday. In the Owen County game the Raiders played a tough opponent who had beaten the Raiders in previous years but this year would be different. The first half saw the lead go back and forth, with it tied up at 23-23 at the half. Trimble came out in the second half and outscored Owen 17-5 in the third quarter and then cruised to a 53-39 win. Dane Lacefield led all scorers with 11 points, followed by Shane Mills and Andrew Edmondson with 8, David Duncan and Evan Stevens 7, Duncan Ralston and Logan Clifford 4, and Ben Stevens and Grant Weaver 2 points each. Weaver and Ben Stevens led the team with 9 rebounds each.

In the Southwestern game the Raiders came out hot from the start and poured in 14 unanswered points in the first quarter on their way to an easy 52-11 win. Leading scorers were Clifford 13, Duncan and Evan Stevens 8, Edmondson 7, Mills and Weaver 6, Ralston and Ben Stevens 2 points each. Edmondson led the team with 8 rebounds.

In the recent Madison Holiday tournament Trimble County took the runnerup trophy home.
The Raiders started out by beating Madison 41-20 followed by beating South Ripley 31-27 in the semi-final. In the final, Trimble County took on Jennings County. Jennings County took a 24-22 lead into the fourth quarter.  After being down a few points with two minutes to play the Raiders took several ill-advised 3 pointers, attempting to get back in the game quickly but they didn’t fall. Jennings County ended up winning the tournament 31-24.
