The Trimble County Raiders were an inning away from victory in the title game of the North Central Kentucky Conference Tournament on Saturday. But, as a clichéd quote from New York Yankee Hall of Famer Yogi Berra reminds us, “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over!”

Trimble, leading 5-1 in the sixth inning over the visiting Henry County Wildcats, who took advantage of erratic pitching to edge back into the game and closed the inning fronting 7-5 en route to a 8-5 win for the tournament championship.

Trimble County advanced to the title game with convincing wins over Carroll County (9-4) in the first round and Williamstown (11-4) in the semifinal round of play.

Henry County topped Walton-Verona 4-3 in nine innings in their first round matchup. Owen County defeated Gallatin County 5-4 in another nine inning, first round game. Henry County edged Owen County 6-5 in the other semifinal game.

Trimble, 8-16 on the season, entertains Eminence in their final home game of the season tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. The Raiders will travel to Spencer County Friday for their final regular season game.
