The Milton-Madison Bridge Project team will present the Environmental Assessment during a public hearing from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Milton Elementary School.

John Carr, project manager with Wilbur Smith Associates, the engineering firm hired by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to lead the project, will present the 112-page document – which encapsulates all federally required information on the project.

The document outlines the entire process since discussion of replacing the 80-year-old span over the Ohio River between Milton, Ky., and Madison, Ind., began in 2008. It has been approved by officials from KYTC, the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

Carr said anyone with questions, comments or concerns about the project should attend tomorrow’s hearing, because it is “the last public opportunity for citizens to offer comments and suggestions about the project.”

Anyone who cannot attend the hearing may send written comments to Carr at 1648 McGrathiana Parkway, Suite 340, Lexington, KY 40511 or to jcarr@wilbursmith.com, faxed to (859) 254-5764, or call him at (859) 254-5759.

Project officials are still waiting to hear of the status of the federal grant submitted for the project, which would provide $95 million of the $136 million needed to replace the superstructure of the bridge, as planned.
