The Carroll County Panther baseball team hosted the Grant County Braves Monday night and left victorious, 8-5 after a huge breakout inning in the bottom of the fourth.
The Panthers have won both contests against the Braves this year, head coach Jay Jones said.
Tyler Gross led it off with a single and Ben Meadows reached on an error by the catcher, according to Jones. Ethan Stewart next hit a single and sophomore Zach Wise knocked in a run on a single. Senior Matt Allen came to the plate and knocked in two runs on his single and DC Craig followed suit. Pitcher Chris Hendrick and Kenny Welch each hit for RBI singles. When the onslaught was over the Panthers had plated seven runs.
The Panthers scored once more in the contest and gave up a few, but came away with the win.
Hendrick got the win, Allen held off the Braves in middle relief and Wise was awarded the save.
