Next year, those who smoke could face fines if they light up too closely to city-owned Milton buildings.
The Milton City Commission approved a new ordinance that prohibits smoking within city-owned buildings and not less than 10 feet from entrances. Violators could face $50 fines for each occurrence.
The new smoking rule will go into effect upon publication. Signs posted at city properties will advise residents of the regulations.
