Trimble County Magistrate Kirby Melvin was arrested early Sunday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to Trooper Brad Arterburn, Public Information Officer for the Kentucky State Police Campbellsburg Post 5.
Melvin was arrested by Trooper Charles Loudermilk at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. Melvin was stopped on U.S. 421N in the city limits of Bedford, Arterburn said.
The 52-year-old Bedford resident has represented Trimble County’s Second District on Fiscal Court since January 2003. Melvin was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center early Sunday and was released later in the day on $500 cash bond.
