MILTON, Ky. – Madalyn Wood, 93, Milton, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Florence.
Born Nov. 17, 1914, in Trimble County, she was the daughter of Ernest and Dolly Welty Lehue. She was postmaster of Milton Post Office for 24 years, head of the Milton Elementary School cafeteria in the 1950s, coached Little League baseball and was an avid sports fan.
She taught Sunday school at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, David Wood, Burlington, Pete and John Wood, both of Milton; three daughters, Phyllis Morgan and Judy Taylor, both of Rocky Mount, N.C.., and Emily Wright, Tucson, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Rev. Harry Wood in 1983, parents, one daughter, Elizabeth “Dee” Joslin, three brothers, Jay, Lincoln and Joseph Lehue, and one sister, Mildred Wright, preceded her in death.
Services were Sept. 27, at Milton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike McArter and David Wood officiating.
Burial was in Moffett Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
