Little Raiders win two

On Saturday, the Trimble County sixth grade basketball team traveled to Carroll County to take on the Panthers. The Raiders quickly jumped out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and never looked back, cruising to an easy 52-26 win. Grant Weaver had his first ever double/double by scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Andrew Edmondson led all scorers with 13 points followed by Weaver’s 10, Logan Clifford and David Duncan 6, Dane Lacefield, Evan Stevens and Shane Mills 4 and Duncan Ralston 3 points. Also, Clifford had 8 rebounds while Stevens had 6 steals.

On Sunday, Trimble County played Switzerland County.  After a dull first four minutes of the game the Raiders got it going and were up 11-3 at the end of the first quarter. Just before halftime, Lacefield scored seven quick points in a two-minute span to help put Trimble up 24-8 at the half. In the second half the Raiders continued their barrage as Ralston hit a 3-pointer to help the Raiders outscore the Pacers 16-1 in the third quarter. Trimble went on to take the win, 46-13. A well-balanced attack was led by Lacefield’s 9 points followed by Edmondson, Clifford and Evan Stevens with 6 points; Duncan, Weaver and Ralston each had 5; Mills and Ben Stevens with 2 points each. Clifford led the team with 8 rebounds and Edmondson had 5 of Trimble’s 25 total steals. Trimble County will travel to Walton-Verona this Saturday.
