Label change will help producers

Rainy weather has delayed tobacco transplanting for many producers, and this means that many growers are holding plants until conditions allow for setting of the crop. As plants are held later in May, we tend to see a greater threat from Pythium root rot, and our standard recommendation would be to treat preventively with Terramaster 4EC. However, the Section 3 label states that this fungicide cannot be applied any later than 8 weeks after seeding, and this could pose a problem to those producers who are forced to keep plants on float beds as they await a goodtime to transplant.
