Employees of Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg, and their family members, helped provide Christmas joy to two dozen children in the Post area last Saturday during the first annual Shop With A Trooper event. Beginning with a shopping trip to Walmart in Carrollton and ending with a pizza party and visits with Santa at Post, each child was given a Christmas gift they may have not otherwise enjoyed due to family hardships. Upon hearing that one child’s family was unable to afford a traditional Christmas meal, one trooper went above and beyond the call of duty and invited the family to share dinner with his family. “It’s sad to think how many other families are in the same situation. Thank goodness we have a lot of people in the community that help others,” the officer said.
