TCHS runners among state’s elite boys 5th, girls 9th in Class 1-A

Trimble County High School’s “Runnin’ Raiders” closed out the 2011 cross country season in fine style at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s State Meet Saturday. The meet was held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Trimble’s boys took fifth place overall in the Class 1-A Meet. There were 27 teams competing in the 1-A 5K.

There were 216 runners competing in the Class 1-A run. Individually, Trimble’s runners placed as follows: senior Kevin Bailey finished in 26th place with a time of 17:51.82; sophomore Christian Apel, 36th, 18:10.71; sophomore Connor Ball, 71st, 18:41.41; junior Kyle Puckett, 85th, 19:11.28; sophomore Tray Robbins, 87th, 19:13.65; junior Reece True, 142nd, 20:09.25; and eighth grader Brennan Kunkel, 191st, 21:41.50.

Trimble’s girls also brought home a Top 10 finish placing ninth of 20 teams in the girls’ Class 1-A Meet.

Individually, Trimble’s girls placed as follows: freshman Kylie Wilberding placed 29th overall with a time of 21:30.37; eighth grader Kirsten Baird, 32nd, 21:34.82; sophomore Erin Gonterman, 56th, 22:29.88; eighth grader Morgan Chappell, 74th, 22:56.15; freshman Emily Tingle, 88th, 23:24.45; sophomore Olivia Cooley, 122nd, 25:05.30; and senior Hannah Davis, 147th, 27:06.87. There were 161 girls competing in the 5K.
