CARROLLTON, Ky. – Kathleen “Kathie” Fulmer Valco, 56, died, Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at her residence.
Visiting hours are 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, with evening prayers at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visiting hours also will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home in Duquesne, Penn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Duquesne, with the Rev. Dennis Colamarino officiating.
Mrs. Valco was born July 1, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Penn., to the late Raymond and Rita Virginia (Smith) Fulmer. She was a graduate of Edinboro University in Pennsylvania and she earned a master’s degree in education from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carrollton.
She retired in 2007 from the Carroll County School System, where she worked for 21 years.
She was a member of the Kentucky Education Association, and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include two daughters, Heidi (John) Valco Kruggel of Greenwood, Ind., and Amanda (Jason) Valco Swinney of Ludlow, Ky.; two sisters, Susan (Ken) Fulmer Burda of Wilmington, N.C., and Jane (Dennis) Fulmer Pocsatko of New Port Richey, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Valco, and a sister, Gretchen Brunazzi.
