Julia L. Stockdale Jackson, 82, Madison, Ind., died Friday, May 11, 2012 at The Water’s of Clifty Falls, Madison, Ind.
Julia entered this life on Dec. 27, 1929 in Owenton, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Earl & Bessie Hewitt Stockdale. Julia was raised in Carroll County and attended school there. She was united in marriage to William Aubrey Jackson on June 19, 1952 in Vevay, Ind. This happy union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. Julia was a loving and devoted wife, mom & granny. She enjoyed caring for her family and spending quality time with them. She was very generous and it could be said, she would give you the shirt off her back. She enjoyed her partnership with her late husband in many business endeavors. They owned and operated River City Mini-Mart for fifteen years in downtown Madison. They also owned and operated Paul’s Burgers & Shakes and it later became known as B.J.’s Burgers & Shakes in downtown Madison. Julia was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Milton Baptist Church and had served on the Milton PTA. She found great enjoyment in watching hummingbirds, reading, working word search books and playing Yahtzee.
Survivors include two sons, Milton Mayor Denny (Fritzi) Jackson, Milton, Kentucky, Shane (Billie) Jackson, Vevay, Ind; two daughters, Vedie (Jeff) Tingle, Springfield, Ky, Libby (John) Kinman, John, Hanover, Ind; grandchildren, Byron, Ryan, Jenna, Barrett and his wife, Rachel, Landon, Whitney, Emily, Shane, Will and Xavier; step-grandchildren, Kyle and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Mikon, Jade, Owen and Bryce; brother, Edwin (Betty) Stockdale, Louisville, Ky; sister, Ruby (Ron) Davis, Ron, Petersburg, Ind, LaVerne Evans, Campbellsburg, Ky; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Her parents, Earl & Bessie Hewitt Stockdale; husband, William Aubrey “Bill” Jackson died, December 28, 2010; granddaughter, Jessica died in 1974; sisters, Juanita Hawkins, Earlene Shields & Wanda Pyles; and brother, Herbert Stockdale preceded her in death.
Services were Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Milton Baptist Church, 10076 Hwy 421 North in Milton, Kentucky officiated by Bro. Ferrill Davis.
Burial was in Bedford I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Bedford, Ky.
