CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Fred A. Nelson, 68, of Campbellsburg died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 13, at Providence Baptist Church, 51 Louden Lane, Campbells-burg, with Brother Doug Boyd, Brother Shane Nickell and Brother Mike Huff officiating. Burial was in Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Trimble County, Ky. to the late Curtis and Callie (Chilton) Nelson.
He was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 52 years, where he served as deacon and taught Sunday school.
He served on the Soil and Water Conservation Committee and the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery Board. He was a member of the American Angus Association.
He was a farmer all his life. He enjoyed sports, especially softball and basketball, and enjoyed raising cattle and carpentry work.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Nelson of Campbellsburg; two daughters, Vickie (Ron) Cull and Debbie (Stanley) Jones, both of Campbellsburg; a son, Steve (Kellie) Nelson of Campbellsburg; three sisters, Norma Siers of Campbellsburg, Doris Ogburn of Frankfort, Ky., and and Donna Hughes of Vevay, Ind.; a brother, Ray Nelson, Campbellsburg; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, John, Floyd and Lloyd Nelson.
Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
