Goat Day: Kentucky State University Extension is sponsoring their Third Thursday Goat Day on October 18, 2012 at the KSU Farm in Frankfort, Kentucky. Start time is 10:00 AM. Program topics include: England Ranch Experience – Goats, Cattle, Chickens and Organic; AI training for Goats is an all-day training with classroom session in the morning; Goat Resource Inventory and Discussion; AI clinic afternoon session continues in Goat Barn; Forage Management Issues Due to Drought; Business Planning and Marketing for Producers; KSU Goat Research Update. Lunch is provided. The Goat day concludes at 3:30 PM. The KSU Farm is located at 1525 Mills Lane, Frankfort, Kentucky. Kentucky Beef Conference: “Today’s Challenges, Tomorrow’s Opportunities,” is the topic of the Kentucky Beef Conference on October 23, 2012. The conference will be held at the Fayette County Extension Office in Lexington, Kentucky beginning at 9:00 AM with registration. The program starts at 10:00 AM. The registration fee is $10.00, which includes lunch. Program topics include: Current Beef Cattle Situation; Economics of Heifer Development; Reproductive Implications of the 2012 Drought; Pinch Your Pennies, Pay the Price – Feeding Considerations with High Feed Prices and Marketing Strategies for 2012.
