It takes a team effort to support industry in Carroll County, and an event on Friday, Dec. 19, at the Conference Center at General Butler State Resort Park is designed to highlight all of the “players.”

“Carroll County has a strong industrial base as a result of the local businesses that provide labor, supplies and materials to our industries,” Ruth Baxter, chairman of Industrial Committee of the Carroll County Community Development Corportion, in a recent news release. “The Expo gives these businesses the opportunity to be showcased for their contributions, as well as to make others aware of the goods and services they offer, in case the need arises.”

Joan Moore, executive director of the CCCDC, said 32 businesses will have booths in the Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with information about the goods and services they provide.

A noon luncheon will feature Kentucky Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo, who will disccuss “Innovative Community Development Strategies in Tough Economic Times.” A question-and-answer session with the lieutenant governor will follow.

The luncheon is $15 per person, but Mongiardo’s address is free for anyone who wants to attend, Moore said. Seating will be limited.

Moore said industrial recruiters and economic development leaders from neighboring counties and Northern Kentucky are expected to attend the Expo, as well.

“It’s a regional effort,” Moore said.

In the release, Baxter further stated that the goal is to show “potential industrial clients” that the county has “the necessary components to make their businesses succeed, if they locate in Carroll County.”

Moore said booth space is still available, and reservations for the luncheon are still being accepted. The deadline is 4 p.m. today, Dec. 17.
