PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Earl F. Graves, 83, of Punta Gorda died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda.
Mr. Graves was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Milton, to the late Clarence and Ollie Perry Graves.
He worked for many years in the construction industry as a heavy-equipment operator. He was a veteran of U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a recipient of two Bronze Stars for valor. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 3296 of Port Charlotte and the Charlotte County Country Music Clubs.He had lived in Punta Gorda since 1961.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Graves, Punta Gorda, to whom he was married 62 years; a daughter, Bonita Jo (James) Birchenough, Punta Gorda; sons Ronald D. (Joyce) Graves and Gregory (Deborah) Graves, both of North Carolina, and Shane E. (Christine) Graves, Punta Gorda; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Charles Graves.
Services were Friday, Aug. 15, at the Eagles Aerie Lodge in Port Charlotte, Fla.
