Editor:
There is nothing more rewarding than to see the eyes of a small child light up on Christmas morning when they see presents left by Santa. Unfortunately, there are many children in our area who will not be able to share that experience.
That’s why the Kentuck State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg and the Women’s Auxiliary have teamed up for our “Shop with a Trooper” program, designed to give many of these children the opportunity to enjoy Christmas this year.
Children selected for the program are picked up at their homes by troopers, who then take them shopping for gifts – they are allowed to buy items for themselves and their family members. After shopping, we take the children back to the Post and have lunch and a visit with Santa.
Our goal is to raise enough money to give each child $200 to spend on himself and his family. The children are selected from the Post 5 counties of Oldham, Gallatin, Trimble, Owen, Henry and Carroll.
The success of the program relies on the generous support of donors. If you would like to assist less-fortunate children in our communities, we would greatly appreciate any help that you may be willing to provide. All monies donated to the program are tax-deductible under 501(c)(3). Make checks payable to: KSPPA Trooper Campaign. All money donated goes directly to needy families.
Together, we all can make a difference. Help us in helping the future generations understand the meaning of caring. For more information, call me at (502) 532-6363.
