A Milton couple was arrested Sept. 2 after Kentucky State Troopers say they scammed a local man of more than $214,000 by promising him “companionship.”

George Michael True, 33, and his wife Angela M. True, 32, of Agin Way, were charged with theft by deception after investigators say the woman scammed a Milton man from a large sum of money by offering him a relationship.

Investigators didn’t describe the extent of that relationship in a prepared statement, but said the couple acted together to further deceive the man from his money.

According to detectives, the couple pretended to be brother and sister to pull off the heist. Investigators recovered about $168,000 from the couple’s residence.

Both are being lodged at the Carroll County Regional Detention Center.
