The tri-county Republican Parties of Henry, Oldham and Trimble Counties announce a primary election debate between all of the Congressional Candidates vying for the seat vacated by Geoff Davis in the US House of Representatives, where he has honorably served for the last 7 years.

“The Oldham Debates” will occur on Wednesday, April 25, at LaGrange, KY.   The event will be at the Oldham County High School at 1150 North Highway 393 (Buckner, KY).  LaGrange is the location of the Congressional field office for the area and the center of economic activity for the tri-county area which includes the counties of Henry, Oldham and Trimble.  The debate is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00pm with a meet and greet starting at 6:30.

“We are excited to have all of the Congressional primary candidates for the Republican Party.  We have such highly qualified individuals for Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District seat this year,” stated Phil Fiegel, Oldham’s GOP Chair. “We want to give all candidates a chance to make their case to the voters in the Republican primary.”

The candidates will answer several questions on a variety of subjects generated by local GOP voters and members of the committee.  These questions may be submitted by voters of the district using various social media outlets such as the Oldham GOP website and Facebook during the weeks prior to the debate event.  These questions will then be voted on by the Debate Committee and submitted to the Moderators.  Questions will be blindly drawn and Candidates will be chosen in a random order to answer.  Candidates will have opening and closing comments where they can focus on any subject they wish.

In addition to the Congressional candidates the Republican candidates for State Representatives for the 47th District, as well as 12th Judicial District Commonwealth’s Attorneys and Oldham Circuit Court Clerks will be given a chance to introduce themselves to the voters in the community.

“It is important that the candidates representing our party are presented with the questions that our members may have for the upcoming election,” commented Jon Park, Henry County GOP Chair. “We are pleased that all the candidates are ready and willing to listen to the voters and answer their questions in the Oldham Debates.”

The debate committee welcomes Jefferson County founder of the cable program “Leadership Landscape” Kirt Jacobs as MC and representatives from local media outlets Joe Elliot from WGTK 970AM and Chris Turner from WDRB as our Moderators. The Debate Committee in conjunction with the tri county Republican Parties will provide details regarding the moderators as well as debate format as those details become available.

Kathi Proulx, the Trimble County Chair says, “It won’t be easy to find a candidate to fill the shoes of Geoff Davis, who has been such a good friend and public servant to the citizens of the 4th District.  It is incumbent on all of us to listen to each of the candidates so we can make the best choice. We are grateful we have the opportunity that this debate affords.”

*Event will be funded by the regional GOP parties and other local supporters.   No candidate or candidate’s party will be endorsed or benefit from the event.  The party will not benefit in any way from any local supporters.
