It may be of some concern to the people of this county, when there is an injustice being done. I am an outsider to this town, but just the same I can feel what is right and what is wrong.
I am referring to the case of A.A. Martin and Donnie Ketterer. This is all in the same on each side a tragedy. An untimely death of such a young man.
However, how do you explain the fact that there were three people in the truck the night of the accident and none came forward at the time? Now only one is in jail. It may be that the driver is the one that should be responsible at all times, but just the same if there are witnesses to something like this and they didn’t do what is necessary at the time, aren’t they to be accountable for what happened as well?
This is a tragedy, like I said, the young man that was killed can’t say what he thinks is fair. At the same time, if he knew there were two others in the truck that hit him, he probably would want them all to be accountable since they knew and did nothing. In my opinion, doing and knowing something are alike.
There have been others to express their opinions about this incident in not such a caring way, with no true knowledge of what happened. I am sure the only ones that do know are the ones involved.
It is an awful thing that has happened, yes. Now, just like the young man that died can no longer be able to determine an outcome for himself, another young man sits in jail awaiting his trial that will determine the outlook of his life. He is a father, a son, a brother and a true friend to many. I’m not saying that there should not be consequences for him.
I believe if this has happened, knowing the character of the one that is in jail, he is sorry and it was not his intent to take a life. He sits and waits with all the blame lying on his shoulders when two others were there.
How is this justice? It is my understanding that if a bank gets robbed that the person who drives the car is just as accountable as the person that committed the crime. Now with that said, how can two people that were there at the accident as well be allowed to escape accountability?
Donnie Ketterer may have or may not have done what is claimed, but he was not alone. I learned in school that justice was for all. Is this again proven not to be true?
