A Carroll County man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his two-year-old son, Kentucky State Police said. Douglas Allen, 26 years old from Ghent, was charged in connection with the Feb. 19 death of his son.
Amanda Foster, Allen’s girlfriend and the victim’s mother, called 9-1-1 at 6:43 am on the morning of Feb. 19 telling dispatchers the child had been discovered dead in his bed. A toxicology report showed the boy had extremely high levels of Oxycodone in his system at the time of his death. After talking to Allen, detectives believe he allegedly gave his son a Schedule II narcotic on the night of Feb. 18, which led to the child’s death.
Allen was arrested at the Kentucky State Police post in Campbellsburg. He is being lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.
Amanda Foster, 28 years old from Ghent, was arrested at her home on April 1 by Detective Mickey Gonterman on charges of Criminal Abuse 1st and Transfer of a Controlled Substance to a Minor. Foster was also lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.
Detective Gonterman is leading the ongoing investigation.
