Businesses accepting donations to group

I would like to tell the community about a local organization called God’s Special Little Hearts. This group was formed in 2006 to help families with children battling a congenital heart defect or disease.

The organization was founded by three heart moms who want to help others going through what their families went through as their children were diagnosed, hospitalized and underwent open-heart surgery. We have since recruited three other heart families to be a part of our organization.

We distribute care packages to CHD families, which contain personal hygiene items, disposable cameras, snacks, tissues, journals and pens, and, most importantly a New Testament Bible. We also can provide meal tickets, gas cards and paid lodging for families who have to stay in other cities while their children are being cared for at hospitals.

Our mission is to show God’s love to others and provide support to families as they travel this difficult road. We, as parents, didn’t ask to be on this ride that some liken to a rollercoaster, but as one heart mom said, “I want a lifetime pass so we can ride forever!”

Several local businesses will be accepting an extra $1 when you buy their products or services, with the extra money going to GSLH. These businesses include: Craig’s Do-It Center, Blake Tax Service in Carrollton and Warsaw, The Cutting Edge, Flower Petalers, The Blossom Shop, U.S. Bank, First National Bank, McNeal’s, Carrollton Federal Bank, Farmers Bank of Milton and Coopers.

I would like to thank these business’ and the community for their generous hearts.

And thank you to The News-Democrat for your continued coverage.
