Fears of low turnout for last weekend’s Trimble County Repair Affair proved unfounded as more than 150 people showed up for the event.
Event organizer Jon Dunlap had voiced concern last week that a September 14 wind storm, which damaged hundreds of homes in the area, might keep local residents working on their own properties rather than those of their neighbors. But those worries were erased as volunteers from church groups, scouts and school athletic teams joined others to flood the Trimble County Senior Citizens Center Saturday morning to enjoy a hot breakfast before being dispatched to their day’s assignments.
Thanks to the volunteers, nearly a dozen homes received work ranging from new wheelchair ramps and paint, floor and window repairs and new roofs.
