BRIDGE RAMP EVOLUTION MADISON SIDE

The Madison approach the the Milton-Madison Bridge is shown at top left when the pilings were being driven for what would become the temporary approach ramp accessing the bridge from the east end of Vaughn Drive in Madison.

The photo shows the severed link of the old approach after removal of the concrete roadway. Note the saw cuts in the large beams that formerly held the roadway and in the steel beams at the bottom of the truss section. This photo was taken during the morning hours of April 25. This span was dropped to the ground with explosive charges later in the day.
