Betty Lucas Wright, 79, of Madison, Ind., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at Signature Health Care East of Louisville.

Born Jan. 1, 1929 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Hubert R. Sr. and Dale Byron Burton Lucas. She was a 1947 graduate of Carroll County High School. She resided in Madison, Ind. since 1956 and was employed for 25 years with Grote Industries. She worked for 18 years as a first deputy in the Jefferson County Assessor’s Office. She was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge #765 and the First Assembly of God Church in Madison. She was an avid reader and enjoyed IU Basketball.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Wright, Louisville; three sons, David Wright, Louisville, Jeff Wright, Madison, Ind., Mark (Carrie) Wright, Madison, Ind.; granddaughters, Autumn and Alana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Her parents, her husband, Clarence Ellis Wright, whom she married Mar., 1953 and died June 26, 2005; brothers Joseph E. Lucas and H.R. “Luke” Lucas and a sister, Margaret Smith preceded her in death.

Services will be today Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Ind. with Pastor Church Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

The family requests memorials to the First Assembly of God Church or Hospice of Louisville. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
