MADISON, Ind. – Betty Lucas Wright, 79, of Madison died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Signature Health Care, Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with Pastor Chuck Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, north of Madison.
Mrs. Wright was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Carroll County, Ky., to the late Hubert R. Sr. and Dale Byron Burton Lucas.
She was a 1947 graduate of Carrollton High School. She married Clarence Ellis Wright on March 6, 1953, in Madison, where she moved in 1956. She worked for 25 years with Grote Industries and served as a first deputy in the Jefferson County Assessor’s Office for 18 years.
She was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 and the First Assembly of God Church in Madison. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Indiana University basketball.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Wright of Louisville, Ky; three sons, David Wright of Louisville, Jeff Wright and Mark (Carrie) Wright of Madison; and two granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her two brothers, Joseph E. Lucas and H.R. “Luke” Lucas Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Smith.
