JCTC’s Trimble County Adult Education (TCAE) can assist students in achieving their goals. Previously, Rachel Bishop came to the center with the goal of obtaining her GED and enrolling in college.  After earning her GED and consulting with the caring instructors at the center, Rachel went on to earn a Gold National Career Readiness Certificate through the ACT WorkKeys assessments.  Rachel was then able to obtain employment and is currently attending college.  She also delivered a motivational graduation speech at JCTC’s Adult Education Graduation Ceremony in 2010.

Rachel prepared for and accomplished these goals with much hard work on her part and with the help of the staff at the center.

JCTC TCAE offers instruction for all of the following:  GED and college preparation, brush up on academic skills to get a better job, National Career Readiness Certificate--nationally recognized certification in three key areas, Paraeducator Testing to become an instructional assistant in the school system, ESL-English as a second language, and more.

Why do we need to further our education? As stated by State Rep. Rick Rand in a recent article submitted to the Trimble Banner, “A 2007 report by the U.S. Census said the salary difference between those without a high school diploma and those who have one or its equivalency is $8,700 per year.”  In addition, Rep. Rand stated, “The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says that most jobs now require at least some postsecondary training…”  JCTC’s TCAE can help prepare students to make the transition to better jobs and/or to college.

The Center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Testing and orientation is given on Tuesdays by appointment only.  Some evening appointments are available at the center and the Milton Christian Church.

Thanks to generous donations from our community, students may earn incentives for reaching certain goals--prizes include gift cards, t-shirts, etc.  For more information and to make an appointment, please call 502-255-9191.
