The Trimble County girls’ tennis team was defeated by the Franklin County Flyers, Thursday, by a match score of 1-4.
According to Coach Vanita Fogle, Trimble forfeited in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles because of one injured player and two players out sick. In No. 3 singles Trimble’s Kim Abbett played Sal Marella and was defeated 0-6, 0-6.
Trimble’s No. 1 doubles duo of Micah Hess and Alex Lawhorn was defeated by Lili Williams/Mary Gracee Amato 2-6, 0-6.
In No. 2 doubles, Trimble’s Whitney Wingham and Diane Peyton defeated Peyton Miller/Shelby Hackensmith 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
In action Friday vs. Carroll County at home Trimble’s girls were defeated by a 2-3 match score.
In No. 1 singles, Kim Abbett was defeated by Carroll’s Sarah McCarter 1-6,2-6. In No. 2 singles Trimble’s Destiny Harp was defeated by Emilee Walker, 3-6, 2-6. Trimble defalted in the No. 3 singles event.
In an exhibition, Trimble’s Diane Payton defeated Ashley Davidson 6-1, 6-0.
In No. 2 doubles, Trimble’s Micah Hess and Alex Lawhorn defeated Carroll’s Jessi Desman and Taylor Courtney. Also in doubles play Diane Peyton and Whitney Wingham of Trimble defeated Ashley Spenneberg and Kendall Couley.
Trimble boys vs Carroll
In boys’ tennis action Friday, Trimble was defeated by visiting Carroll County, 5-0.
In No. 1 singles action it was Carroll’s Joe Gemmer over Trimble’s Alex Dixon, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 2 singles, Zeke Kates (CC) defeated Trimble’s Kenny Payton, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 3 singles Carroll’s Bobby Perkins won by forfeit.
The No. 1 doubles winners were the Carroll County duo of Noah Abercrombie and Dakota Corbin over Trimble’s Michael Ely and Kris Weave, 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 doubles Gabe Kates and Nick Aulbach (CC) over Cody Johnson and Nathan Gibson (TC), 6-0, 6-2.
